This Is When It Could Return To Normal
The last few days have been quite tiring. On Friday, I had to study for my final exam. On top of that, there was also a banquet that I needed to attend. Well, I didn’t need to go, but considering it would have been the first banquet, I wanted to go just for the experience.
The banquet was nice. It was mostly food and a trivia game, but other than that, nothing too particularly exciting. They tried to pass out awards to anyone who had come and since the newspaper is mostly of students who write, those on the business side, including myself, didn’t get all the jokes. My award was “Most Likely To Be Your Cashier Anywhere You Go” (or something like that). I like that it only pertains to me and I’ll admit it’s a little funny, but I’m not too keen on the award for some reason. Maybe it’s because I don’t really want people to associate me in that way, but what else can I do? I gotta pay the bills, you know?
After the banquet, I had to do more studying which was kind of productive. I squeezed in a small two-hour nap before studying though. In the morning, I was completely rushed. I had to carry all of my things with me: purse, suitcase, textbook to cram in last minute reading. I also remembered that my navel ring protruded a little with the dress I was going to wear to the reception, so I had to stop by the piercing parlor to find a ring that wouldn’t stick out so much. We finally found one and again, I had to rush to class. I took my final, all was dandy. I could have done better, but I was in no mood to dwell too much on that.
I hopped onto the BART thinking that everything would be fine and dandy, but instead, heard the announcement that the BART would not go all the way down to my stop and would stop three stations ahead of that due to an electrical fire. That stressed me out some more because I had to call my dad to let him know what was going on. They would have provided a bus to drive us to the stations we needed to go to, but it would have taken a while to get there. My dad ended up driving to the station to pick me up.
I was really hoping that I would have been able to squeeze in a nap before having to get ready for the reception, but I couldn’t. As soon as I got home, I had to get ready. The dress I was going to wear needed to be fixed because the straps were too long. It was an easy fix, sure, but it took time anyway. After that, hopped into the shower to quickly wash my hair and then spend the rest of the time getting ready.
We got to my cousin’s wedding a little early, but that was expected. I stood around for most of it until the ceremony started. I was a little upset with myself because I didn’t bring down the bra that I would have needed to wear with the dress, so I had to use a different one that didn’t stay up all the time. It didn’t fall down all the way, but it fell far enough to make me look a little odd.
The ceremony was nice. It could have been shorter, but the (I forget his title) person doing the ceremony was telling my cousin and new wife how to raise their kids and whatnot. It was really annoying because it didn’t have much to do with the ceremony or with them at all. Anyway, then the appetizers arrived while people took turns taking pictures with the bride and groom. The food at the reception was pretty good. They started off with a salad in vinaigrette, followed by a mango sorbet to “cleanse the palette,” and then the main course, which for me was steak. I don’t remember if they provided anything else after the main dish, but my sister and I ended up asking for another sorbet since it was really good. We left early because my sister needed to study for her final and because we’re the family who always leaves early anyway.
Then… I passed out.
I woke up in the morning, checked a few online things, and then went back to sleep for another two hours since my parents weren’t home. After I woke up and they returned, I borrowed the car to pick some more foundation up at Sephora. I was also hoping to stop by a friend’s workplace, but when I got there, they told me that CC was no longer working there and that they hadn’t heard from him in a week. I got really worried after that because the main reason why I wanted to see him was because his phone number was disconnected. I quickly stopped by the mall to pick up my things and then rushed to CC’s house to try and find him. I was really worried and was afraid that something bad may have happened to him.
Once I got there, and also surprising myself that I could remember the way, I frantically rang his doorbell. I suppose I woke him up from his hangover, but I was just so glad to see him. If he didn’t answer his door, I would have literally broken into his place. After telling him how worried I was, we ended up grabbing some Chinese food. We had to rush then too because my dad wanted to get me back to school soon since he had something to do later on. We only had to rush because before then, we were just lounging around before we decided to go eat. It was good seeing him and it really calmed me down knowing that he was safe.
I finally got the car back about half an hour after he wanted it back, but all was good. I tried to check the BART website to see if there were any updates on whether or not the station would be open, but they gave me no information whatsoever. We finally got to the station only to find that it still wasn’t working. My dad offered to drive me to the next station, but knowing how long it would take, I told him that I would take the bus and all would be fine. He was reluctant at first, but since I knew and he knew he had things to take care of, he decided to let me go.
On the way there, I ended up chatting with someone and by the end of our ride, we exchanged phone numbers. I swear, I don’t know what it is, but lately, I’ve been meeting a lot of new people. There was the guy on the BART today; last week, there was a guy at church; there’s cute rugby boy, the boy at the club, and then the boy on the street. So many! It’s as if they just decided to bombard me all at once! Of course, nothing has happened with any of these men, but still, you can’t get anything started without having first met them, right?
Anyway, I’m going to eat, shower, and then pass out some more since I’m just beat.
