This Is The Day After
Yesterday was my friend NL’s 21st birthday party. It’s finally hitting me that this is the year for a lot of my friends’ 21st’s. I’ve already gone to two 21st birthdays and it’s only February! There’s another one in a few weeks as soon as the details are finalized and whatnot and my roommate MK is turning 21 in a few weeks as well. I don’t know what she’s going to do yet though.
So yes, of course, I dressed fabulously in hopes of walking home with a cute boy (and just walking! with maybe a few kisses here or there…). But sadly, I was not walked home by a cute boy… (no offense to JL). JL is another friend of mine and he walked me home instead, but not the kind of boy I was looking for. I feel so bad for NL. I stayed until I realized the party was over when he was stumbling all over the place and ended up on his hands and knees while trying to get to the bathroom to puke. Yeah, ouch. I’ll admit that I did get drunk, but … oh man. That was way too far. Oh, I played beer pong for the first time! And my partner and I won! Oh yes. I shot and he drank the (nasty) beer.
And today was a good chill day. I walked to Walgreens to get some Neosporin because at the party last night, the floor was wet, so I slipped, but caught myself by using my hand against the wall, and well, it scraped. Along the way to Walgreens, I stopped by as many places as I could to drop off resumes and/or fill out applications. Yes, I have to realize that my “dream” job may not come soon, so I have to get whatever I can right now.
I hate buying textbooks. The publishers have realized how big this used books economy is and also realized that they don’t profit, so they keep spitting out new editions to prevent us from buying books used. The book I need for my sociology class is $134 new since the store doesn’t carry any used ones at the moment. I bought the book already, but I had bought it so I could get a better idea of what I needed to and what I needed to read. I have to return it tomorrow and I’m still behind in a few chapters. I bought the book at Half.com and asked the seller to send it as fast as s/he can and that I would reimburse for the extra shipping. My next class is on Saturday, but I want to be able to catch up as much as I can.
You know, I find it so funny when people look over at me in awe and amazement. Why? Well, since I have been around computers since the age of 8 or earlier, I was taught how to use a keyboard. So… that’s more than 12 years of experience right there and it would be quite good to assume that I have l33t typing skills. Yes, I just spelled l33t. I’m a nerd and geek. Leave me alone. Anyway, I bring this up because the other day as I was waiting for my AAS film class to start, I was in the college library using the internet for a bit. The girl next to me was so blown away by the fact that I didn’t have to look at the keyboard when I type. You know the funny thing is that my current keyboard’s letters are kind of fading away from all of its use so when I look down, I can’t even see the letters. It actually makes it harder for me when I have to look at the keyboard to type because I have to really focus on it. What’s the whole thing called? It’s like when you know that you can drive and all the skills you have with driving have been so ingrained into your routine that when you actually have to think about what you’re doing, it totally throws you off balance? Yeah, that’s me with typing.
Anyway, I just realized how bizarre that last paragraph was. Maybe I should read a little more in the textbook before I go return it tomorrow.
